Creamy Za’atar Veggie Dip
This is one of my new favorite dips! It was born out of a “What’s in the fridge?” situation for a last-minute ladies’ night, and now it is part of the regular rotation. Za’atar is a spice mixture consisting of sesame seeds, sumac, and herbs like oregano and thyme. It has a great earthly flavor with a lemony hint from the sumac. This dip is great for veggies and pita chips, but it would also make an awesome spread for a sandwich or wrap. I hope you enjoy this at your next get-together like I and my friends did at ladies’ night!
Ingredients
1/2 cup plain greek yogurt (sour cream also works)
8 oz. block cream cheese, softened to room temperature
4 oz. crumbled feta cheese
1 large clove garlic, smashed
Zest of 1 lemon
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 tsp. za’atar, plus more for serving
2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil, plus more for serving
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
Sliced veggies and toasted pita chips for dipping (I like red bell peppers, carrots, and cucumbers.)
Recipe
To a food processor, add greek yogurt, cream cheese, feta cheese, garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, za’atar, and salt. Process on high. While the food processor is running, add 2 tbsp. of olive oil. Continue to process until smooth and creamy. You may need to stop the food processor once or twice and scrape down the sides until the mixture is fully combined. Taste for seasoning and add any additional salt as needed.
Serve in a shallow bowl with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and another sprinkle of za’atar.
Serve with sliced veggies and toasted pita chips.
